Little boats
04:06
|

Little boat on the ocean,
Sail so small to the palm bending winds.
How vast is the ocean?
And yet you sail out to it’s ends.
Only Carved from wood and you’re
Letting on water.
Why do you travel so far don’t you
Fear to go under?
I’m a little boat on the ocean,
Tossed about by the waves around me.
But I don’t fear to go under
Just so long as You sail with me.
You are the perfect master.
You know the depths and the reefs.
The wind and the waves obey You.
What kind of Man is this?
Take my ropes,
Set my sails,
Plot my course
To You.
We’re the seas and the oceans mine
That’s still a gift far to small.
Love so great, so divine,
Demands my boat, my life, my all.
You are the perfect master.
I can trust You ’til the end.
You’ve told me the hope You’ve promised,
The haven my journeys end.

In this darkest hour
05:36

In this darkest hour a boat steals out to sea
Through the pitching waves away from me.
It carries a precious cargo
That I may never see.
The crew pull the lines to taught the sails
cutting closer to the breeze.
And as they disappear
I wish God speed.
I know it may never return and bring her back to me.
It might be just too much to ask, but bring her back to me.
Old flowers on the mantlepiece in a broken vase with faded leaves
As red petals turn to brown fall and brush the ground
So my love fades away.
This musty room could hold a secret
In the darkness in which it hides
And if it does then it can keep it
For ignorance is on my side.
I know it may never return and bring her back to me.
It might be just too much to ask, but bring her back to me.
As rain falls in the street lamp light
I return inside and take off my coat,
To sit down and contemplate.
Ten past two and I feel much better
But I couldn’t help but notice just how dark it was outside.
So I drew back the curtains and watched the rain drown the road;
An ocean stretched away.
Far, far away across that sea, a boat carried you away from me.
I know it may never return and bring her back to me.
It might be just too much to ask, but bring her back to me.

Sleep

Sleep my love
Put your head upon my shoulder
Close your eyes there’s no need to talk
And we can’t talk to much about it anyway
So let’s just sleep.
I don’t need to shout out about it
It must be so clear to you.
The orange leaves are falling
And now the trees are bare.
But just because the bows are black and empty
Doesn’t mean that life’s not there.
And we can’t talk to much about it anyway
So let’s just sleep.
You don’t need to shout out about it
I think it’s clear to me.
The lark flies so high
He must touch the summer clouds
But his voice is hushed, he doesn’t make a sound…
But that’s just because it’s not right to do so now.
And we can’t talk to much about it anyway
So let’s just sleep.
We don’t need to shout out about it
It’s just so clear, it must be so clear,
It’s just so clear to us both.
